Enjoy Sendik's All Week

I know 4th of July is still one week off, but it’s not too early to start thinking about what you’ll serve at your cookout, or bring along if you’re going to be a guest in someone else’s backyard.  As for me, I’ll probably just go ahead and do a re-run of the Barbecued Cheddar Burgers from two days ago just ’cause they were so darn good.  Here are three recipe suggestions that make good use of ingredients you can find in the current Sendik’s sale ad, which runs through July 4th.

If you’re not in to the burger scene, pick up a pound or two of the sale Sendik’s Jumbo Prawns Freshwater Grillers and make these Grilled Shrimp and Sausage Skewers with Smokey Paprika Glaze.  I love these because not only are they an upscale cookout option, but 90% of the recipe can be pulled together earlier in the day.  The sausages called for are already fully cooked and even these humongous prawns require only a short turn over a hot fire and voila, dinner is served.

I adore this Macaroni Salad with Bacon, Peas, and Creamy Dijon Dressing from Cooking Light.  The dressing is outstanding and no one will ever even notice that it’s made from lighter ingredients.  This is a great alternative to potato salad and would be great alongside nearly anything grilled.  Look for sale Philadelphia Cream Cheese, Hellmann’s Mayonnaise, Breakstone’s Sour Cream, and Koops Dijon Mustard.

Lastly, when blueberries and strawberries are on sale, it’s the perfect time to make this gorgeous Fresh Fruit Tart with White Chocolate Filling.  Trust me when I say that this show stopper of a dessert is far, far easier to make than you might think — simply whip up the dough in the food processor and zap the filling in the microwave.  Arrange your berries loosely to let a little more of the white filling show through and you’ll have the perfect dessert for any patriotic occasion.  Other sale ingredients to look for are Kemp’s Whipping Cream and Philadelphia Cream Cheese.
