Enjoy Sendik's All Week

Posted on November 13th, 2013 by Leah Damron

You can easily tell by the ginormity of the current sale ad that Sendik’s stores are gearing up for Thanksgiving in a very big way.  This is the perfect time to stock up on so many of the non-perishable ingredients you’ll want to have on hand for holiday side dishes and baking projects.  I’ve become much more of a baker in the past couple of years, and I go through chocolate chips like nobody’s business. So I’ll be snapping up sale Nestle Morsels practically by the case, along with canned pumpkin (Shurfine or Libby’s).  So get there ahead of me or you might come up empty handed on both.  I’m just kidding, I promise to leave some for you, too.

Now, because the DamFam cannot survive on baked goods alone (a sad and difficult fact for my youngest to come to terms with); nutritious dinners must also be served.  Here’s what we’re having this week:

Sendik’s Roast Beef is on sale in the deli, which means it’s French Dip Sandwich night here.  I like this on good, sturdy French or Italian rolls, but Kaiser rolls are on sale and you could use those as well.  Sendik’s Mini Italian Loaves are also on sale.  This is the perfect sandwich to make if you’ve got a night where people are in and out and eating in shifts, because it’s easily assembled at the last minute with little fuss.  I like it with these Oven Fries (use the sale Jumbo Idaho Baking Potatoes) and cut up veggies from the Sendik’s Salad Bar.

Let’s not forget about this great Ravioli in Creamy Tomato Sauce.  Keep this one in your back pocket for a night when you need to get dinner on the table in a hurry.  Look for sale Rana Ravioli and their Sauces as well – find them in the Dairy Section at Sendik’s.  Easy peasy and kid friendly all the way.

Finally, since you know I can’t turn down Sendik’s Natural Pork Shoulder Roasts at $1.99/pound, we’ll be having this Slow Cooker Sweet & Spicy Asian Pork at some point this week.  Last time I made it everyone here flipped out — in a good way (as opposed to the Tuna Noodle Casserole way, brother).  I’ve been using my slow cooker like crazy lately, I just love that thing.  In addition to the sale pork shoulder, also look for sale C&H Brown Sugar and choose from three brands of sale chicken broth:  Kitchen Basics, Pacific, and College Inn.

Have a great week, everyone.  Happy cooking!  : )
