I’m here to play culinary cupid and help you decide what to serve your sweethearts later on today – or on through the weekend, should you choose to prolong your Valentine’s Day celebration.  As usual, these recipes are kid tested, mom approved, and easy on the pocket book since they all involve key ingredients from the current sale ad.  No need to thank me, I live for this stuff.

We hosted friends for dinner this past Saturday night and I served this fantastic Country Ragu and oh.  my.  golly.   This hearty sauce is absolutely out-of-this-world delicious and received rave reviews from our company.  Make this one if you’ve got lots and lots of time to spare.  I let mine cook down for about six hours so that it got very rich and thick.  Sometimes I serve it over penne pasta, but Saturday night, I put it over gnocchi.  It was amazing.  Definitely Valentine-worthy.  Look for sale Sendik’s Original Recipe Italian Sausage and one p.s.:  Do yourself a favor and double this recipe – it’s worth the extra chopping.  This is a sauce that freezes beautifully, and you’ll never be sorry to have it on hand.

If you’re saving calories for that giant, heart-shaped box of chocolates you’ll likely be receiving from your sweetheart, go the lighter route and serve Chicken & Mushrooms in Garlic White Wine Sauce.  This easy little dish comes together in a hurry but tastes like you slaved away all afternoon.  I like it over egg noodles, but it could easily be served over rice or even mashed potatoes.  It’s heavenly.  Look for sale Sendik’s Natural Boneless Skinless Chicken Breast Value Packs and pre-sliced white mushrooms.

Finally, here’s an upscale, yet simple, vegetarian suggestion using the sale Sendik’s Fresh Faroe Island Salmon FilletsPanko Crusted Salmon is my favorite salmon recipe that also uses my all-time favorite cooking technique:  sear roasting.  You will look like a genius, a culinary wizard, and a master chef once you perfect this simple skill.  I’m excited for you.  Go try it.  Once you get it, you’ll be sear-roasting darn near anything you can get your hands on.

Now, go forth and impress your Valentine with your mad cooking skillz this weekend.  Have fun in the kitchen!
