Sendik’s Food Markets to close Lilly Road location in Brookfield

All employees to be offered positions at other stores

MILWAUKEE, WI – Sendik’s Food Markets today announced it will close its Lilly Road store at 13950 W. North Avenue in Brookfield. The store will remain open for business through October 29, 2017.

“When we purchased the property in March, 2016, our original plan was to invest in a major remodeling of what is basically a functionally outdated store,” said Ted Balistreri, family co-owner of Sendik’s Food Markets. “However, as we moved through the planning process and studied the situation more, we determined that the effort would require a higher level of investment than we had originally planned. As a result, we have made the difficult decision to close this facility and focus our attention on other growth opportunities and the several stores we have nearby.”

Balistreri said that all of the 65 associates working at the location will be offered continued employment at one of Sendik’s other 18 locations.

“We are going through a period of tremendous growth and considering other expansion plans, and we are fortunate that these skilled associates will have the opportunity to remain with the company and serve our customers at one of our other stores,” Balistreri said. “We would also like to thank the many customers who have shopped at this location, and we would be honored to welcome them to our new store on Bluemound Road in The Corners development, at our neighboring stores in Elm Grove and Wauwatosa, or at any of the other area Sendik’s Food Markets.”

Balistreri said that after closing, the property will be listed for sale.
