At this year’s Wisconsin State Fair Cheese Competition, Sartori artisan cheesemaker Joel Pagel was recognized as “Grand Master Cheesemaker” after being presented with the competition’s Grand Champion award for Sartori’s Classic Asiago. Th is award was the culmination of a very successful Wisconsin State Fair competition for Sartori, as they were awarded six total ribbons.
Joel has been craft ing cheese for the past 25 years in Antigo, Wisconsin, and has helped with many other Sartori award-winning cheeses, including Pastorale. In addition to Pastorale being awarded Grand Champion at the State Fair last year, this is Pagel’s second Grand Master Recognition and Sartori’s fi ft h Grand Champion since 2006. “Joel’s passion for artisan cheesemaking is apparent in every facet of his work,” said Sartori President, Jeff Schwager. “He brings innovation and
inspiration to the Sartori team.”
