Enjoy Sendik's All Week

Hi and happy Thursday, everyone.  Here are a few little goodies that make the most of the current sale ad and will hopefully help you decide what to feed your brood for dinner through next Tuesday.  As always, these recipes have been kid tested and mother approved.  Actually, that’s not exactly true this week.  Had I kid tested the tomato tart, I’m pretty sure it would have been kid rejected, so I didn’t even go there.  But for grownups, I definitely stand behind it.

Can’t win ’em all when it comes to the punks and what they’re willing to eat.

Let’s start with the Oven Dried Tomato Tart with Goat Cheese and Olives.  I recommend serving this as a side dish to anything grilled; or, if you’re entertaining dinner guests this weekend, serve little slivers of it over baby greens as a first course.  It’s elegant and rich and makes great use of the pretty stem tomatoes that are on sale this week.  I also like it for an easy dinner with a simple mixed green salad.  Yum.

Sendik’s Special Italian Sausage is on sale, and I have the perfect pasta dish:  Penne with Sausage, Tomato, and Romano.  This is one of my favorite Cooking Light recipes. I absolutely love it, and so does the whole DamFam.  I know you probably don’t normally think of sausage as a light food, but this dish isn’t overly heavy and won’t weigh you down on a hot summer night.  Unless, of course, you decide to eat a pound of it by yourself.

If you’re looking for a super quick, kid friendly meal, I love this easy Sausage, Pepper, and Onion Pizza.  Again, use the sale Sendik’s Special Italian Sausage, sale Red Bell Peppers, and swap in an equal amount of sale fresh Stem Tomatoes instead of canned.  The photo shows a regular crust, but the original recipe actually calls for French bread as a base; Sendik’s Mini French Bread Loaves are on sale.
