Enjoy Sendik's All Week!

Here are two great dinner ideas, a terrific appetizer suggestion, and one seriously delicious dessert recommendation to help you make good use of this week’s Sendik’s Tropical Paradise ad.  Enjoy!

Grilled Seafood Packets are a great idea for either weeknight family dining or weekend entertaining.  Three of the four major ingredients (tilapia, shrimp, and red-skinned potatoes) are all on sale.  The fourth ingredient (fresh corn) is pennies an ear and won’t set you back too far.  The packets are topped with an awesome compound butter and they cook on the grill in minutes.  Can’t wait to make these again.  Look for sale Sendik’s Natural Farm Raised Tilapia, Sendik’s Farm Raised Raw Cleaned Jumbo Shrimp, and Minnesota Big Red Potatoes.

Another great use for sale tilapia:  Fish Tacos with Pickled Onions & Adobo Cream.  This is a great way to feed a craving for Mexican food without feeling outrageously stuffed after your meal.  Look for the sale tilapia (as mentioned above), La Tortilla Factory 7″ Wheat Tortillas, and Daisy Sour Cream.

If you click on the Fish Taco link, you’ll notice there’s a recipe for a dressed up Seven Layer Taco Dip on the same page.  Perfect for entertaining on the patio, especially if you’re going to follow it with a Mexican-inspired main course.  You may be interested in knowing that these major taco dip ingredients are also on sale: La Preferida Refried Beans, La Preferida or Lysanders Taco Seasoning, Daisy Sour Cream, Shur Fresh Cream Cheese, Captain Rodney’s Salsas, Sargento Shredded Cheese, and Sage Valley Blue Corn Tortilla Chips OR Frontera Brand Chips.   I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t like this dip – especially teenagers and men.  And teenagers who eat like men.  If you feed it to a teen crowd, just set the tray down and run for your life.

I can’t resist recommending this outrageously simple Ice Cream Sandwich Cake — it is the total bombdigity and the complete opposite of food snobbery.  You’ll know what I mean when you read the recipe.  If you know someone with an August birthday, or if you’re having company this weekend, pull this recipe out.  There’s some assembly required, but it’s easy work that my minions seem to enjoy.  This would be the perfect finish to the Grilled Seafood Packet meal, come to think of it.  But serve it to a crowd, ’cause leftovers are lethal.  And don’t say I didn’t warn you.  Look for sale Blue Bunny Ice Cream Sandwiches and The Chocolate Factory Fudge Sauce.

Hope you’re having a great week.  : )
