Good morning and happy Thursday. Here again are two kid tested, mother approved busy weeknight recipes to help you make the most of what’s on sale at Sendik’s this week; the third recipe is the perfect little yummy to make this weekend when you feel like eating, drinking and making merry. Here we go!
Tonight the DamFam will dine on the ultimate kid friendly meal: Chili Corn Chip Pie – which, as I’ve said here before, is not actually a pie at all. This dish is completely mistitled, but I didn’t name it and you can’t fight city hall, so we’re running with it. Your kids will think you’re a goddess with this one, but I wouldn’t serve it to company. Look for sale Value Packs of Sendik’s Natural Black Angus Ground Chuck, Jumbo Mayan Onions, Swanson’s or Emeril’s Brand Beef Broths, Sargento Shredded Cheese and Daisy Sour Cream.
Another kid friendly dish for a different day: Spicy Shrimp and Bok Choy Noodle Bowls. Back off the spicy as much as you like to make it even kid friendlier, but my punks love it hot, so I make this as written. Look for sale CenSea Extra Large Shrimp, Sliced White Mushrooms, and two brands of chicken broth (Swanson’s and Emeril’s).
Finally, if you’re entertaining guests this weekend or if you’ve been asked to bring an appetizer somewhere fun (jealous!), make good use of the remaining sale CenSea shrimp you must have on hand if you made the aforementioned Noodle Bowls — make these fabulous (fabulous!!) Thai Shrimp in Wonton Cups. I promise (unless your fellow guests are allergic to shellfish, yikes) these will be the hit of any party. Find the wonton wrappers near the top shelf in the Frozen Foods by the fancy pastas. Hellman’s Mayo is on sale if you’re running low.
Have a merry week. : )Fresh, Frugal, Fabulous, News | December 13th, 2012
