So according to TMJ4 Meteorologist Scott Steele, winter is not quite ready to relinquish its hold on us just yet. More snow is coming our way this afternoon and overnight, which means a little more shoveling, bundling, slippery roads and, when it comes to dinner time, more cozy comfort food.
I was so excited when my new issue of Cooking Light turned up in my mailbox on Friday afternoon. I should take a picture to show you what I’ve done to it already – I’ve got the whole thing fringed in lime green Post-It notes, marking all the awesome looking recipes I can’t wait to try.
Seven super-short school days to go before summer vacation begins, and the countdown is on! Is it just me, or does it seem like there’s a LOT to cram in before next Wednesday arrives?! We’ve gotta get our kids through field day, picnics and class trips; help ’em wrap up last minute projects and study for final exams; attend music programs, graduations, dances, and carpool to a seemingly endless string of parties…the list goes on and on. You probably have a few fabulous functions of your own that I haven’t mentioned. Go ahead and pile ’em on. We’re moms. We can deal.
I’ve never been to Mardis Gras or New Orleans, but by now you probably know that where there’s an occasion to celebrate with food, you can pretty much count me in. Wow, did I ever fall off the wagon this weekend. Holy smokes!! And I was doing so well with eating light! Ever since last Monday! I was on something like, a four day healthy eating kick. Might not sound like much, but that’s quite a stretch for me, you understand. The Holidays were ugly, but I do mean that in the Best. Possible. Way.
I’ve got happy news to break to y’all – chili season is upon us in a big way! I think it arrived with all that wild wind we had earlier in the week. I’m all right with it, actually. Chili is simple to make, it’s a frugal girl’s friend, and my punks love it! Plus, it makes the house smell fab’.
Ugh, I feel like ten dollars this morning. This is not a good way to start the week.
I ate too much this weekend. And if you want the truth, I went overboard on the cocktails, too – we went to a really fun (LATE) dinner party on Friday, then out to the lake on Saturday, and had company on Sunday. The weather was gorgeous, and I just felt like livin’ it up and indulged just a teensy bit too much.
