Slow Cooker Loaded Baked Potato Soup & Enjoy Sendik's All Week

Good morning and welcome to this week’s edition of Enjoy Sendik’s All Week, where today I’m sharing a slow cooker recipe for Loaded Baked Potato Soup.  I figure people are busy and could use an addition to their crock pot repertoire.  Personally, I don’t have time to make dinner, as I’m spending the afternoon writing meaningful, heartfelt get well Read more

Leek & Potato Soup with Creme Fraiche and Thyme

Last Friday night we played mixed doubles paddle with friends and had an Irish-themed spread together afterward. Cocktails with an Irish spin were also flowing, and as a consequence, my game deteriorated early on in the evening. It was a sad state of affairs, since I’ve never had much of a game to begin with. Luckily for me, the Husband didn’t seem to mind covering most of the court (because clearly his Black & Tan wasn’t as large as mine was, ahem).

Browned Butter Gnocchi with Broccoli & Pine Nuts

The Holidays slayed my dishwasher. Actually, its death was a result of a combination of different events …. but I’m not going to tell you what they were because it’s too embarrassing. But anyway, here I sit with dishpan hands and ragged cuticles, not so patiently waiting at the mercy of the installer as he takes his sweet time delivering my brand new magical pot-scrubbing machine, scheduled to take place some time this coming Saturday. Which is five days from now. So, long story short, I’ve been looking for recipes that don’t require messing up too many pots and pans these days. This recipe is just the thing; it’s simple, it’s fast, and it hardly dirties any pans. Minimal chopping, minimal cleanup. But best of all, it’s unbelievably yummy and kids love it.

Meatball Parmigiana Sliders with Roasted Italian Potatoes

As you can tell from the sale ad and Fan Mail, Balistreri Sendik’s stores are unveiling their new line of Black Angus beef today. As we all know by now, the Balistreri family has some pretty high ideals when it comes to what they’ll sell in their stores. They shoot for the stars. They’re always looking for the best. And so it would stand to reason that offering their customers this amazing brand of beef is really no different than business as usual.

Potatoes Stuffed with Brie and Ham

The DamFam is in the throes of cross country season and this season I have three (count ’em!) THREE runners. If you didn’t know this already, the way to a cross country runner’s heart is through his/her stomach. These kids (like most athletes) hold carbs in high esteem. And I’d be lying if I said it’s not a daily challenge to keep the pantry and fridge stocked with foods that hungry runners like to eat.

Parsleyed Redskins

Once upon a time, and long long ago, the Husband and I hosted a lobster boil in our backyard. The economy was booming and the DamFam was livin’ large (okay, we’ve never actually ‘lived large’). It was fun (the lobster boil). Messy, but fun. And super hot too, as I recall. I think it was over 4th of July weekend. I can’t remember. Like I said, it was a while back.

Pork Chops with Country Gravy & Mashed Potatoes

I’ll bet you’re thinking I fell off the Wellness Month wagon and jumped on the — GRAVY train. Har. I didn’t. Believe it or not, today’s recipes come from Cooking Light, so they still fit in perfectly with the whole Wellness thing we’ve got goin’ on.

Shrimp with Indian-Spiced Potatoes

I needed a quick, one-pot dinner last night. After school sports and full blown homework have kicked into high gear and I just didn’t have the time to futz around with a complicated meal. This one is so easy to throw together, I ended up having no excuse not to volunteer to schlep four wayward runners home from cross country practice…and toss 50 frisbees to the DamDog…and explain the finer points of long division to my fifth grader.

We sat down to the dinner table last night and for the first three minutes: total silence. Total silence followed by comments such as “Good dinner, Mom!”, and “REALLY good dinner, Mamacita!”, and “Yeah, nice job!” I just love it when I hit a home run, I really do. I live for dinner time glory.

Fresh Fish Friday

I will go on record here and say that I LOVE THIS CHOWDER. I just got done eating this photo shoot, and it was mmm, mmmm, good.

Wait, I believe that’s someone else’s slogan.

But I ask you: what better way is there to finish off a long, frigid week than with a big bowl of Salmon Chowder? It’ll warm your belly, bring a smile to your face, and defrost your outer abominable snowman.
