Enjoy Sendik's All Week

Since the weatherman has revised his forecast and announced we’ll have a few days of moderate temperatures, I’ve softened my hardline on oven / stove / fire  avoidance for the short term.  Here are three recipes to help us make the most of the current Sendik’s sale ad as well as the remaining days of summer.  All sale ingredients are highlighted in green.

First off, Grape Tomatoes and Creamette Pastas are on sale, which means it’s the perfect time to make this easy No Cook Tomato Sauce.  Roma tomatoes are called for in the original recipe, but you could easily swap in a pint or two of chopped grape tomatoes instead.  Serve this with some good quality grated Parmesan and a loaf or two of the sale Sendik’s Mini French Bread and you’ve got a delicious, light meatless meal.

If you’re up for grilling, Sendik’s Natural Black Angus Ground Chuck Value Packs are on sale,  making it an excellent occasion to whip up a whole bunch of Stuffed Sliders Cubed Deer Creek 2 Year Cheddar or Hatch Pepper Heritage Cheddar would be fabulous.  You can pick up small dinner rolls for your sliders, but I like to use Sendik’s Hot Dog Buns (they’re on sale in the Bakery) and cut them down into thirds.  All of the usual burger accoutrements (Milwaukee Dill Pickles, French’s Classic Yellow Mustard, Heinz Ketchup, and Hellmann’s Mayonnaise) are also on sale if you’re running low.

Finally, if you love fresh tuna steaks, try this Sesame Crusted Tuna with Wasabi Ponzu Sauce.  I love this over rice pilaf and the sauce is TO DIE for.  This is a great dish for entertaining or if you’re just trying to work more fresh fish into your diet.  Sendik’s Brand Wild Caught Ahi Tuna Steaks are on sale.
