Crab Cake Sliders with Spicy Mayo

Here’s a nifty new recipe to go along with the seafood theme of the current ad. If you’re in need of a holiday appetizer this coming weekend, these crab cakes are the perfect little number. I’m considering serving them for Christmas Eve dinner, alongside big bowls of my favorite New England Clam Chowder.

Clams and Shells

The DamFam vacationed in the Outer Banks of North Carolina for a week this past July. It was a family reunion of sorts with grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins of all ages, all under the roof of one ginormous ocean front house. Grownups took turns making dinner for the crowd each night and one of the best meals was the one my Aunt Vicki made, which featured the delicious Clams & Shells I’m sharing with you now.

Oven Fried Shrimp with Spicy Aioli

In deciding on what sort of dish to discuss here today, I was torn between two major issues at hand: back-to-school-night dinner ideas, and Packer watching munchies. Don’t laugh. In my little world both rank right up there as “major issues” this week, so I went round in my head and then decided on a happy compromise. These crunchy little shrimp make a fantastic busy weeknight main course, but they are equally suited for football snacking. You can bet I’ll be making them twice this week.

Low Country Boil

I’m bringing up this recipe today because it is one of my favorite summertime meals, and I want you all to have access to it before we run out of summer. I make it for the DamFam, party of five – but I’ve also served it for dinner parties of up to 10 or so folks. One of my college roomies served it to a crowd of 50 people at her rehearsal dinner. I absolutely love Low Country Boil. It’s the quintessential southern meal!

Spicy Shrimp and Grits

Yes, grits! Don’t run away! If you’ve never had them before, I think you’re going to like them. I LOVE THEM. If midwestern comfort food is mashed potatoes, then southern comfort food has got to be grits.

Steamed Snow Crab Legs

In honor of Father’s Day this coming Sunday, this week’s posts will be dedicated to a fabulous (yet easy!) meal that Dad will love. For anyone who feels like ‘getting crabby’, I’ve got a simple preparation for the crab legs that’ll be on sale later on in the week. Aren’t they purty? They smell like the ocean – which of course, is a wonderful thing.

Scallop Risotto

I had a spending splurge yesterday. I bought something that was really, really, mindblowingly expensive. And don’t tell my husband, but I would totally buy it again…but hopefully, I won’t have to for a while. Any guesses?

Gnocchi with Shrimp, Asparagus, & Pesto

I clipped this recipe back in September because its headline caught me: “FAVORITE 20-MINUTE RECIPE #7” is what it said, just above the recipe title. Color me happy, I thought. Who couldn’t use a 20 minute recipe?

Bacon Wrapped Scallops

It’s Thursday and I’m dog tired, man. Beat. Bushed. Bleary-eyed and world-weary.

I’m looking forward to Friday night and possibly hanging out with our neighbor friends on the patio or around a roaring bonfire…I’m secretly hoping that someone out there in the cul-de-sac will read this today, do the neighborly thing, and invite us over for conversation and good cheer.
